Educator Blogs

The first blog I found was names http://thepegeek.com/. The blog was created in England I believe, I say that because the teacher has a very thick British accent. The main points of the blogs are to show how basic technology can be used in PE classroom to test student’s activity levels. The one post was named http://thepegeek.com/2011/06/02/its-now-possible/. The teacher uses everyday technology such as GPS devises, video cameras and HR monitors. The students are participating in a game names net ball. Through this simple technology’s the teacher was able to formulate all sought of data about the activity. The data was able to help chart their activity levels. The data also was broken down into position on the field. Which position is more activity? Which had more standing around time?

The blog page was interesting but do not think I would this use this in my PE classrooms. The activities he used would be better off in an exercise physiology class. I am strong believer the PE class should remain simple and fun. I also believe an important aspect to PE class is to teach students how to have fun with physical activity. Demonstrate activities can they can participate at home, anything to get the kids playing outside more.

This is a very interesting post. The idea that a teacher can download podcast and tutorial on line. The students will then have access to these podcast at all time. The idea in Physical Education is that students can view these pods csts during their down time, such as riding the school bus. When the students arrive to class they will ready for the physical activity. The idea came from a website named the Khan academy. The Khan academy is an online school consisting of thousand of YouTube video. High quality educational videos. The idea sounds great, the students will come prepared and the physical education teacher can go directly to the activity. The problem is that there are no insurances that the student will view the podcast on the spare time. It can be recipe for a very disorganized class

This post was a prestation on technology in Physical education. The author used Google Docs to start he’s work. What he wanted to do is a presentation based on ideas from everybody in he’s network. He creates presentations using ideas from anybody. You can keep adding ideas to the presentation and keep passing it around to everyone.

One slide was intersecting. He would video tape the students participating in a certain aspect of physical education, such throwing a ball. The other students can then critique the throwing motion.

Another use was the IPhone application cricket coach. This technology creates a split screen where you can compare your throwing motion to others,

The potential use of this log is also to help keep the teacher in their continuing education. The blogs I read were based on new ideas for physical education. The idea nod using technology in Physical education, I believe as I sated before that blogs is such a wealth of information. As a new teacher I would foolish not to utilize blogs.
